Endoscopy
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic imaging tool that allows us to evaluate the gastrointestinal tract. Endoscopy is performed under general anesthesia and during the procedure, a flexible camera is able to pass through the mouth, down the esophagus and into the stomach and part of the small intestine. During an endoscopic procedure, we are able to evaluate the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, take tissue biopsy samples and in some cases, retrieve foreign objects.
